Goldkonda
Golkonda – is the oldest fortress that belongs to India. The old complex is quite well preserved and is located within the city of Hyderabad, which belongs to the state of Andhra Pradesh. Somewhere from 1512 to 1687, the year of the Golden Conde was the capital of the eponymous Sultanate.
The name of the Indian fortress went from the Gaul, which means « Shepherd Hill ». Among all the Europeans who were not only able to be the first to visit the walls of the Golkonda, and also describe this attraction, is the Russian merchant Afanasy Nikitin.
The ensemble of ancient buildings is located on a mountain with granite, the height of which is close to 120 meters. The Golden Condou shaped four diverse fortresses, which together make up 87 bastions. Even in our time, some of them are equipped with guns. There is also a gate in the fortress, of which there are eight. The golkondu is equipped with lifting bridges. On the territory of the fortress there are prayer buildings ( mosques ), stables where previously contained Sultan horses, as well as various storage facilities. Separate temple buildings have even been built here. In the premises of the Golkond fortress there are many halls and chic chambers.
The architecture of this fortress is presented in such a way that acoustic effects are very pronounced. For example, if you slam your hands loudly or stamp your foot at one gate, then this sound will clearly be heard per kilometer, at the highest point of the structure. Such good audibility in the Gold Conde was an excellent warning of various dangers.
Near the walls of the fortress there are granite monuments with the highest domes, of which there are 18 pieces. Here the bodies of the rulers of the Kutb-Shahi dynasty rest. The area surrounding the mausoleum is represented by the wonderful landscape where the gardens are located.
The area near the Golkonda fortress was previously known for the extraction of diamonds, which were not only found here, but also processed. This area is considered the birthplace of the most famous diamonds. Within the limits of the Golkonda, a market was equipped where these gemstones were both sold and bought.
