Chapada Diamantina National Park
Chapada Diamantina – is a well-known national reserve owned by Brazil. It is located in the state of Bahia and covers an area of 1,520 km2. Translated, the name of the park sounds like « diamond plateau » for the reason that these jewelry was really discovered here. This area ranks first among the Brazilian beautiful natural paintings. The peak of this mountainous area is a rock of 1000 meters high.
The Shapada-Diamantin Nature Reserve was organized in 1985. There is more than one ecosystem, including forest, serrado and arid terrain.

The Shapada-Diamantine National Reserve also includes cities where colonial structures are located. It is in them that the memory of the extraction of diamonds lives, which put the whole country in first place in the production of jewelry at the beginning of the twentieth century.
The main city that belongs to the Shapada-Diamantin Nature Reserve is Lensua, which is located 408 km from El Salvador. In its heyday, its population was within 30 thousand people. This city is empty with the identification of diamonds in South Africa. To date, Lensua has been recognized as a national monument, as it presents the architecture of residential premises of the 19th century.
Today, the reserve lures travelers from all over the world who are fans of eco-tourism. The local hiking trails were previously laid « garimpeiros » - diamond seekers.
This area simply delights with its amazing natural landscapes. It lures the park and the fact that people still live here, although old ones already, but remember and can tell a lot about real diamond fever.
Tourists are pleased to visit local caves, as well as waterfalls where special paths lead. Almost all bright routes originate at the town of Lensois. Local waterfalls just look up to themselves, among which Kashoeyra da Fumas – is the most famous. It has a height of 380 meters. There are several more waterfalls, which are the most beautiful in the whole country. The caves of the Shapada-Diamantin Park are also worthy of attention, among which Lapa-Dose and Pratinha stand out. The famous tourist route through the blue grottoes of Posu-Enkantadu does not pass by.
This area also has legends that were told by the mouth of the first colonists, as well as by the Indians who settled here somewhere in the 1750s. Among them there is one that talks about Mount Moru do Pai-Inasiu. A certain young man who greatly loved the daughter of his master went far into the mountains to avoid the wrath of his beloved father. But the father’s soldiers overtook him on a high rock, with which the guy chose to jump down and break, but to remain free. This rock was a mountain called Moru do Pai Inasiu, with which modern tourists love to watch a wonderful evening sunset.
Shapada-Diamantin National Park has a fairly diverse animal world and plant. Many plants took root here, including wonderful orchids. The local fauna is represented by a large number of rodents, as well as cat, living high in the mountains.
