Fort Chittorgarh

Fort Chittorgarh is located in the eponymous Indian city. It was built in the 7th century AD and has long been the main residence of the Mevar rulers. Fort Square is 28 km2, height above the terrain - 180 meters.

For its existence, Chittorgarch captured the Great Mogolas three times. After long days of capture, many Rajput soldiers died in brutal battles. The queen, and behind her women with children, committed suicide – ritual self-immolation jauhar.

Fort Chittorgarkh accommodated a whole ensemble consisting of 130 architectural buildings, to date, only some of them have survived, the rest are presented in the form of ruins. The Palace of the Kumbha Rana is considered the oldest, the poet Rani Mira lived and worked in it.

Temples are decorated with images of women, animals, warriors. Often for this hour, a large number of monkeys are waiting for guests near the cathedrals, since they settled here, having chosen the area.

During the construction of Fort Chittorgarch, 84 bodies of water were built in the form of wells, ponds, where the figures of Buddha were depicted. Filled with water bodies naturally due to precipitation. Today, only 22 of them remain, where local residents wash their underwear.

The walls of the Chittorgarh fortress extend 13 km long. There are places for cremation of rulers.

Also located « Old Town », where residents live an ordinary village life, and cows and sheep graze at the ruins of the fort. We can say that they have the same standard of living, except that instead of the invaders they are haunted by tourists with flash. Every year there is a festival dedicated to the memory of their ancestors.

This place is considered sacred to all Hindus.
