Waterfall tours

Those who find themselves in India, especially in the Goa region, should definitely pay attention to this miracle of nature. Trips to Dudhsagar are made from most of the beaches in Goa, most often the Dudhsagar waterfall is visited during a large sightseeing tour, for which a whole day is allocated. Tourists arriving at the sights have the opportunity to swim in the lake, admire the spectacular freshwater carps and take pictures against the backdrop of a falling stream.

Almost above the lake, over the water, there is a railway bridge, built back in the days of the British Empire. Interestingly, it is still used today for its intended purpose. Winter is the best time to visit Dudhsagar Falls. Of course, at this time there is no snow here. However, there is no sweltering heat and torrential tropical rains that will wash away the road and spoil the trip.

Legend of the jug of milk

The second name of the Dudhsagar waterfall is the Sea of Milk because of the constantly foaming water. There is a romantic legend about the origin of this name. In ancient times, a beautiful goddess came to splash in a mountain lake. After bathing, she liked to drink milk from a precious jug. Once noticing that an outside young man was watching her from the forest thicket, she splashed all the milk into the water in order to hide her divine beauty from a mere mortal. They say that since then white "milk" streams have been flowing along the high rocks. And the view of the lake, to which the openwork bubbling foam flies with a roar, is really magnificent.

Flora and fauna around the waterfall

Around the lake and Dudhsagar waterfall are virgin deciduous forests with a very rich and diverse wildlife. There are Indian elephants, panthers and Bengal tigers, deer, porcupines, mongooses, several types of poisonous snakes, including the king cobra, as well as many other animals. However, the chance of meeting with some of the listed animals is quite small: wild animals bypass human paths. The noise made by tourists and their vehicles can frighten and drive even large predatory cats away from a person. In the jungle you can meet about 200 species of birds.

Animals that you will definitely meet at Dudhsagar are monkeys. They eagerly beg for treats from tourists, who are happy to treat them to food, although it is forbidden to feed the animals. Knowledgeable people say that you need to stay away from them. The most daring can ride elephants.
