A little history

Count Miklós Zichy was a big fan of Baroque houses and buildings; he traveled extensively throughout Europe and always admired the beautiful buildings. For this reason, the count decided to build the same palace for himself, and as an architect he chose the then famous European architect Henrik Jäger, who designed a luxurious mansion and was liked by all members of the Zichy family. The palace of the Zichy family immediately became the center where the cultural life of the region took place - Old Buda. Today, the Zichy family palace has lost a little of its grandeur, this is due to the fact that it was heavily damaged by the Second World War, and some of the walls of the building were damaged. However, this does not prevent the palace from attracting thousands of glances from admiring tourists.

Features of the Zichy family palace

The peculiarity of this palace is that opposite it there are several significant landmarks of Budapest - the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, in which numerous representatives of the Zichy house were buried. The Zichy family palace houses several museum exhibitions - the history of the city of Budapest, the history of the city's creativity, as well as an exhibition dedicated to the lives of two outstanding artists - Kassak and Vasarely. Wonderful entertainment has been invented for tourists in the palace - you can drink a cup of coffee in one of the ancient guest rooms of the palace, and also forge a sword with a blacksmith in one of the workshops. You can also stroll through the various rooms of the Zichy family palace and enjoy the beautiful interiors and see various pieces of art.
