Mikumi National Park
Mikumi is a national park in Tanzania on the banks of the Ruaha River. Mikumi is one of the most famous national parks in the country, spread over an area of 3,220 km2. It was founded in 1964 and its popularity is only gaining momentum every year, because there is something to see here: picturesque landscapes, mountains, an abundance of animals. The very name of the park originated from the name of the palm tree growing here - Mikumi.
Mikumi is located between the Uluguru and Lumango mountain ranges, adjacent to the Selous Hunting Reserve, as well as the Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Like other parks in Tanzania, Mikumi usually hosts all kinds of safaris, air tours, and nature films. Balloon flights are especially in demand here, from which it is convenient to monitor the animals, creating interference and anxiety for them. Covered in fog, hidden from the sun's rays, Mikumi National Park leaves an unforgettable feeling at sunrise. The first rays of the sun glide across the fluffy green grass, convinced of their safety, the animals graze peacefully on the huge savannahs, while they are watched from above from a balloon.
Mikumi is one of the best places for a family vacation. You can get here from the city of Dar es Salaam, there is also an airfield for small planes built on the territory of the park, and guests of Mikumi Park can stay in one of the wonderful hotels or a tent camp.
Migration trails of zebras, warthogs, antelopes, and buffaloes pass through the lands of Mikumi. Besides them, you can see giraffes, elephants, and hippos hiding in lakes from the heat. Some of the representatives of antelopes run through the flooded meadows - deer, kudu, black antelopes. In Mikumi, the lions feel at ease, guarding their borders. They stay here even during the rainy season, while the rest of the animals go to the plains or forests. About 300 species of birds have found shelter in the park. Many migratory birds from Europe come here.
Observation towers have been built for the convenience of visitors to the park, offering a stunning panorama of Tanzania. For its beauty, the park has become the most visited park in the country, just like the Serengeti or Kilimanjaro.
